I've been away from the blogosphere reality on a self-chosen and schedule-forced sabbatical. Not to fret, I've still been listening to good music, having fun, keeping it real and reading my ass off.
Bob Dylan -- I've been hanging out with my boy Bob quite a bit lately, sampling tracks off of albums from the 60s and albums from the early 00s. Fave tracks of the moment:
- Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands
- Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again (oh mama!)
- It's Alright Ma (I'm only Bleeding)
- Lay Down Your Weary Tune
- In the Doorway
- Not Dark Yet
- Percy's Song
- Song to Woody
- Buckets of Rain
Brandi Carlile -- Saw her in concert last night. Damn good show. When she opened for Ray LaMontagne (whom I heart), she had an acoustic set. Last night, she rocked. Literally. She had her twins as well as a drummer and a once and a while slide guitarist. More than I expected and damn pleasing.
Jimi Hendrix. They played him at Ginkgos on Sunday afternoon. I had been listening to Dylan and decided to change it up. It greatly enhanced my reading of Luther's commentary on Romans 5 & 6.
What else, what else...I've picked up The Mountain Goats and still am enthralled with Love Love Love. Nina Simone has been a great companion as of late as has Jens Lekman. Looking forward to looking back and getting some Radiohead, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix.
